KYC & Verification Policy
What Silarah’s liveness and government-ID checks establish, how verification material is handled and how to appeal.
1. Types of check
A profile-photo liveness badge is intended to show that a live person completed a camera check. A separate KYC check compares a selfie, document information and document photo to support age and identity confidence. Neither is a comprehensive background check.
2. Data used
Depending on the check, we process camera frames or a captured selfie, government-ID image, document type and country, extracted date of birth, face-match similarity, anti-spoofing or quality signals, submission time, decision and reviewer notes. Never submit another person’s document.
3. Automated and manual processing
Text extraction and face similarity may run on-device as capture and reviewer hints. Every valid global-KYC submission is decided by an authorized human using the original private document and selfie; a client score can never approve or reject identity. India DigiLocker verification is separate and requires a matched authenticated government document, not merely authorization.
4. Submission rules
Use a genuine, unaltered document belonging to you and a current live selfie. Filters, screens, forged documents, deceptive masks or another person are prohibited. Poor lighting, unreadable text, age under 18, mismatch, manipulation or an unsupported document may lead to rejection or resubmission.
5. Meaning of a badge
A badge means only that the stated check passed at a point in time. It does not certify intentions, character, marital status, finances, criminal history, immigration status or safety. We may remove or repeat verification after material changes or risk signals.
6. Security and retention
Identity documents are private, restricted and shown to staff only through short-lived previews; they are never shown to members or guardians. Raw global-KYC images are scheduled for deletion 30 days after submission or decision. Decision checklists, timestamps and cryptographic file digests may remain for audit, fraud prevention, appeals and legal obligations without retaining the raw images. Deletion otherwise follows the Privacy and Data Deletion Policies.
7. Retry and appeal
The app gives a practical reason or next step where possible. Retry after correcting quality problems or appeal at safety@silarah.com with account email and decision date. Do not email ID images. Staff may request a new secure submission.
8. Regional methods
Supported documents and trusted digital-document methods vary by country. If DigiLocker or another authorized provider is offered, its terms also apply. Silarah does not ask for a government-service password or OTP outside that provider’s official flow.
